Home / Cosmetic Procedures / Face / Rhinoplasty (Nose Correction)
Every year hundreds of thousands of people elect to improve the appearance and/or function of their nose through nose surgery or Rhinoplasty. The nose is a prominent feature of the face, second only to the eyes. Its size and shape is one of the most defining characteristics of the face. Some of the common reasons to have Rhinoplasty is to improve the shape of the nose, to augment/reduce the size so that it complements the face better, to repair damage caused by injury or wanting to breathe more easily.
The ideal nose varies from face-to-face depending on the skin type, ethnic background, age and other variables. No one shape/size nose is perfect for every face. What suits one person will not necessarily suit another person. During the initial cosmetic consultation the surgeon will discuss all your concerns about your nose, your expectations, and explain the probable outcome of your procedure.
Please bring with you any photograph of yourself in which you feel your nose particularly needs correction, marked with an approximation of the change you are looking for. This is always a good starting point for your consultation and helps rapidly bridge the gap between patient expectation and the possible achievable results from the surgery. You are encouraged to bring old photographs of yourself prior to any injury to your nose if you are seeking surgery as a consequence of the same.
At the consultation further photographs will be taken and a simulation of possible results will be shown on the computer to ensure the highest level of understanding between the patient and the surgeon. You will also be shown several before and after treatment photographs of patients having similar noses, and be explained the treatment you can receive.
Before making the decision, please ask the surgeon if there are any additional procedures that may enhance the effects of your nose surgery. A number of patients elect to have chin or cheek implants to enhance and balance their facial features.
